HOW I CAN HELP

Individuals:

If you are having difficulties with depression, anxiety, relationships, anger or loss, or simply feel overwhelmed or confused by what you are facing in life, I can help you work to understand your feelings and situation better and support you in making positive changes.

Often people don't really know what it is they are looking for in therapy, they just feel they need to talk to someone who can help them understand their own behaviour, or what is sometimes called gaining 'insight', to give them more choice in their lives.

Persistent patterns of behaviour that may have once been appropriate, may now be getting in the way of you achieving certain goals or finding contentment with your day-to-day life.

Previous clients have received support with a range of situations including abuse, ageing, work place problems, grief, menopause, post-natal depression, self-esteem and problems in relationships with a partner, work colleague or family members.

Some of the areas I can help with include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Panic Attacks

  • Low self-esteem

  • Family and adolescent issues

  • Grief, loss and bereavement

  • Relationships

  • Work-related problems

  • Anger management

  • Fears and phobias

  • Obsessive behaviours

  • Post-natal depression

  • Trauma, early life or recent

  • Ageing

  • Loneliness

Couples:

Couples seek relationship counselling to:

  • Help resolve ongoing relationship problems or unhealthy dynamics

  • Help to reconnect and communicate more effectively

  • Work through recent, unexpected conflicts that have arisen in the relationship

  • Support with an ending in a relationship

  • Help with sexual, intimacy or abuse issues in the relationship

TA is a model of psychotherapy that can be used very effectively to help couples, by analysing and rebuilding communication between partners where dialogue is failing or has failed. Just like individuals, couples can find themselves repeating patterns of interlocking behaviour together that leads them to feel stuck, dissatisfied or disappointed.

In our sessions, I will facilitate each member of the couple to be able to experience separation and self-responsibility, and to work together and support one another – in other words to have a relationship whereby they are able to be separate from each other and be involved at the same time, both enjoying more autonomy while developing greater levels of intimacy.
